The ensemble MusEquality was formed at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Its work centres on classical repertoire and its arrangement for an unconventional chamber line-up:

- accordion – Jaromír Žižka
- cimbalom – Michal Procházka
- double bass – Lukáš Holubík
“During our studies of classical music, we became curious to explore compositions inspired by folk traditions. It is precisely this connection between classical and folk music that has become a central theme for us,” explains cimbalom player Michal Procházka.
The distinctive instrumentation of MusEquality allows for highly individual arrangements, in which the performers sensitively project their musical roots into works by classical composers. In doing so, the ensemble brings together tradition and innovation, opening up new colours and perspectives on classical music.
“Our aim is not to alter the essence of the works themselves, but to reveal new layers and connections within them,” adds violinist Viktor Janoštín.
MusEquality places strong emphasis on stylistic integrity and clarity of sound. At the same time, it seeks to reach a broad audience — from classical music enthusiasts to lovers of folk traditions, as well as listeners without a specific genre preference. Music may take many forms, but it remains a single language. It is this idea that MusEquality was created to share.
